BAM president Datuk Seri Nadzmi Salleh admitted that partnering Kien Keat and Boon Heong with different players may be the best remedy for the pair, especially after their disappointing loss in the Olympic bronze medal playoff in Olympics last Sunday.
"Everybody has their own level (of maximum achievement). The question is whether they have reached that level or not," said Nadzmi, when met at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday.
"We could see in their last game (at the Olympics), they were running and covering the same areas as each other which is something that should not happen for a partnership at their stage. Even the coaches were disappointed with this.
"If we can rejuvenate them by pairing them with other partners, then why not?
"We can try in the next few months (with other partners) and see whether they can really excel or not."
Nadzmi, however, said the decision to split the pair, who lost to South Korea's Chung Jae Sung-Lee Yong Dae in the bronze medal decider, will be made with careful consideration and will largely be decided by the BAM coaching and training committee.
"This must be discussed by the training and coaching committee together with the coaches as to be at the level they are today is not easy and we cannot afford to waste them.
"I do not want to make decisions hastily and it will be discussed with proper analysis.
"We will have to reach a consensus among ourselves including with the players as well."
